Work Relationships
I was enjoying the best job I had ever experienced and then my boss left and the new guy wanted to change everything. Now I wasn’t enjoying it at all and I had to make the decision to stay or go.
Who do you think you are?
Identity has become one of the biggest issues facing us as we flow into the 21st Century. Conversations start with “What do you do?” or "How do you make a living?". This puts pressure on each of us to live up to unseen expectations and project an image of ourselves that often doesn't reflect the individual hidden within.
We can so identify with our work that changes that are beyond our control can affect our mental and emotion al wellbeing.
So before jumping ship there is much to consider, one of these being what if the new boss doesn’t stay after all?
I love to explore with clients such questions as “What do you do next?” or “How can I do it differently?” and “How can I be better at what I do, even in these circumstances?”.
Changechallenges the Status-quo and helps us to look deeper for answers.
Undertaking this sort of in-depth conversation requires more than counselling, therapy or coaching – it requires the hybrid approach that I call Mentoring for Life.
Mentoring for Work Life
Life Mentoring opens unlimited opportunities for change in any circumstances you might be facing in your life, but to be sustainable that change must come from within, so even the way we might have decided how life works is challenged and overturned.
When the limitations are removed, a new landscape is revealed, and a new map can be explored. People very often asked me how I’ve managed to live so many different lifestyles, enjoyed amazing relationships and varied careers and I’m still smiling and waking up every day ready to get up and do the next thing. My truth is; I suppose, I have an insatiable curiosity about life which doesn’t allow me to accept what is happening right now as being the only option for what might happen next.

Don’t count the days…
Make the days count
In Mentoring for Work Life we will explore the four aspects that need to be understood, managed and conquered for us to get ‘green lights’ for transformation:
-
Personal
This is what you believe about yourself and your career circumstances. What beliefs have you inherited from parents, teachers, heroes and influencers and why you are limited by them and more importantly how you can change them. We are not doubting that your life journey to date has value but we are challenging that “script” as the one that will determine your future.
-
Relational
This is about the way you think others see you and how you think they might feel about the new career direction you want to create. Who are your living influencers and why and how can you respectfully bring them along on your journey? What ‘dead’ voices are influencing you – by that I mean employers from your past with whom you are no longer in contact, but to whom you still feel obliged to explain your actions!
-
Financial
If you’re going to leave, how much money and resources do you need to make the change? Let’s get real: how much money and resources do you have right now and what is the gap and how do you bridge it?
A strong financial foundation is vital to keep a clear head for the future challenges.
-
Spiritual
This is about your deep held beliefs about the world, the universe, gods and unseen influences in your life and the lives of those you have been influenced by and you would be amazed as to how important this aspect of life is, whatever your belief system.
Our time together will consist of exploratory conversations that will reveal your deeper drivers and motivators, your true hopes and dreams and uncover the beliefs you hold onto that create perceived limits to achieving them.
After just a few sessions you will be amazed at how the way you see the world can change so quickly, that what you thought was impossible becomes possible - you will re-write your future from a default ‘same old same old’ to stepping-stones along a path that reveals itself the as you see the plethora of opportunities available to you.
